Pulse of the Pacific uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit, which parts of the tracker get used, and which outside sources (NOAA, IRI, etc.) people click through to. This is standard web analytics, not individual tracking of you personally.
No accounts are required to use this site, and none are offered. We do not collect names, email addresses, or precise location. Analytics events record things like which timeline range or forecast view was opened — not who opened it.
Google Analytics may set cookies to distinguish returning visitors from new ones, in line with Google's standard GA4 behavior. This site does not use cookies for advertising.
The climate data shown on this site (ONI, forecasts, event history) comes from public NOAA, IRI, BoM, and Copernicus sources and is fetched on a schedule — it is not connected to your visit in any way.
